The first update of iOS 6 is here and it brings some bug fixes but also some enhancements.
By far the most important improvement is the LTE support for more carriers (Apple makes a list available of these carriers at www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/). It sums up 36 iPhone carriers and 23 iPad carriers that now gives a big boost to the wireless performance that vows “blazing fast speeds” as the Apple officials claim. This improvement is strictly related to the usage of the G4 telecom networks that will come as a big revolutionary step in mobile internet usage and it seems that Apple want their iDevices to be most prepared.
Other changes in iOS 6.1 are: the possibility to purchase movie tickets through Fandango by using Siri this being available only for USA, iTunes match subscribers can now download individual songs from iCloud and there’s a new button available for resetting Advertising Identifier.
“iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
Even though USA has just announced smartphone jailbreak to be officially illegal the “specialized” sites already announce the iOS 6.1 jailbreak to be available in a couple of months max.
